Darkseid, known as "the Tyrant of Apokolips", is a fictional character in American comic books published by DC Comics. Created by Jack Kirby (written and illustrated) and Al Plastino (illustrated), he debuted in the pages of Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #134 (December 1970).

He generally appears as an adversary of Superman and the Justice League (and above all as the archenemy of the Highfather) and is ranked sixth in IGN's list of the one hundred most important comic book villains.
