The US Navy SEALs are the Special Operations Forces of the United States Navy, within which there is a specialized counter-terrorism component, commonly known as "SEAL Team 6" but officially called the United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group (DEVGRU). The Seals are the special operations forces employed by the government of the United States of America in unconventional conflicts and wars, internal defense, direct action, anti-terrorism actions and in special reconnaissance missions, in mainly maritime and coastal operating environments. Their name (SEAL) is an acronym that encompasses the environments in which they have been trained to operate (SEa, sea - Air, air - Land, mainland). Several times they have operated with counterparts special departments (such as the British SAS and the American Delta Force).
