Saw is a horror-thriller film series with a splatter theme created by James Wan and Leigh Whannell and consisting of nine films and a spin-off, created since 2004.

The plot of this series of films revolves around the cunning and cruel John Kramer, alias Jigsaw, who suffers from terminal brain cancer, and his apprentices. The victims are captured and placed in deadly traps, from which they can usually escape after mutilation and great suffering. Jigsaw tests his "guinea pigs" (for him, in fact, they are experiments) to see if they are worthy of continuing to live a life that until that moment they have despised (for example, because of drug addiction, alcoholism or prostitution). At the end of these films, doubts are often left whose answer is present in the subsequent films.
