Muttley is a Hanna-Barbera character who first appeared in the animated film Yogi, Cindy & Boo Boo (1964), as the circus manager's dog. In 1968 he appeared in Wacky Races as a sidekick to the series' main villain Dick Dastardly. The two were also used for other series by the same producer.
Muttley is a dog, and as such should never speak: however he always manages to utter the words "yes", or "medal"; generally he limits himself to an asthmatic laugh, usually at Dick's expense, but not infrequently he formulates a series of grunts of protest always towards his master, in which it is also possible to recognize other words of human language.
